The Louvre Museum in Paris has been closed following a theft, the French Minister of Culture announced.
Rachida Dati wrote on X that the robbery occurred Sunday morning, while the museum was opening its doors. She said she was at the scene where police were investigating.
The museum confirmed its closure for the day “for exceptional reasons”, without providing further details. Various French media report that jewelry was stolen.
The Louvre is the most visited museum in the world and houses many famous works of art and other valuable objects.
