For the sixth time in the history of the program, the Cardinals of Louisville head for Omaha for the College World Series.
The Dan McDonnell club again reached its stellar pitching recipe and a timely strike to win a 3-2 dramatic victory against Miami in the winner Take All Super Regional Game Three Sunday afternoon at the Jim Patterson stadium.
After having been late 2-0, U of L won the series by scoring three unanswered points, the last arriving on a double of two outings by the super regional MVP Eddie King Jr. at the end of the seventh. Zion Rose (1-4, RBI, 2B) and Bayram Hot (1-3, RBI) – which made its first start of the playoff series at the 2nd base – led to the other two points of Louisville.
The first year student Lefty Ethan Eberle was solid on the bump for a second consecutive Sunday, granting two points – both on a home run of two outings at the top of the third – more than 5.0 rounds. Although it is more than their just part of problems, Jake Schweitzer (3.0 IP, 2 BB, 2 h), Justin West (0.2 IP, 2 K, 2 BB) and Brennyn Cutts (0.1 IP) have combined to close the Hurricane attack door during the last four sleeves of the game.
Louisville will compete against Oregon State or Florida state in their first World Series match. The Seminoles and the Beavers will play the third match in their series tonight at 9 years old.
Since 2007, a U of L trip to Omaha has been so unexpected, and I’m not sure there has never been one that felt so sweet.
Are we going to win the fucking thing.
