A new fire, dubbed the Auto Fire, broke out Monday evening in Ventura County, California, and has already burned approximately 56 acres, prompting fire crews to respond quickly.

Although the lockdown remains at 0%, it has been successfully stopped in the Oxnard river bottom area, with no buildings at risk, officials said.

Firefighters are bracing for the return of fierce Santa Ana winds expected to fan the flames of massive wildfires raging across Southern California, as the death toll climbs to at least 25 people.

The total area burned by the fires around Los Angeles spans more than 60 square miles.

The National Weather Service warned of a “particularly dangerous situation” in the coming days, and gusts between 60 and 70 mph were already recorded early Tuesday morning.

Peak winds are expected to be milder than last week, the agency said Monday, although relatively low humidity and offshore winds of 20 to 40 mph “will promote rapid fire growth and the potential for extreme fire behavior.” fires.”

“Potentially deadly, destructive and widespread winds are already here,” Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristin Crowley warned residents.

She said the Los Angeles Fire Department has staffed all available resources, strategically placing patrols and fire engines in unaffected high fire risk areas of the city.
