Los Angeles Unified School District workers began a three-day strike on Tuesday, shutting down the nation’s second-largest school system. About 30,000 non-teaching support workers walked off the job due to stalled contract negotiations. The teachers’ union has asked its 35,000 members to also come out in solidarity.
