Lorde started her next single “What was that” tonight (Tuesday April 22) at the Washington Square Park in New York. The singer stood on a wooden platform in the center of the now dormant fountain of the park and sang on the track while he played from a pile of minimum speakers. Look at performance images below.
Earlier in the day, Lorde teased the pop-up appearance with a message shared via her line of fans text: “Meet me in the park this evening at 7 pm -xx.” When 7 pm rolled, she followed a post to her Instagram history, informing the participants that the event had been closed by the park rangers and the local police. “I am really surprised by the number of you arose !!!” He read in part. “But they tell me you have to disperse me … I’m really sorry.”
However, a large part of the crowd stayed during the next hour, until Dev Hynes de Blood Orange – which should have worked on the next Lorde album – arrived with a speaker that exploded “what it was” and led them out of the park. Lorde finally appeared after 9 p.m., stopping to thank the fans gathered before embarking on his song. The newly revealed lyrics understood the following: “I miss you / And all the things we did / MDMA in the rear garden, blows our students / We kissed for hours in a row but baby, what was it? / I remember saying then / It’s the best cigarette in my life / Well, I want you like that. “
Lorde first teased “what was it” via an extract published on Tiktok, accompanied by a video of his paving around Washington Square Park. She recently appeared during the weekend of Charli XCX One Coachella and collaborated with the singer-songwriter New Zealand Marlon Williams. His latest studio album to date is 2021 Solar energy.
