Lord of the Rings fans shocked to discover major Legolas details more than 20 years later

Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films – 2001’s The Fellowship of the Ring, 2002’s The Two Towers, and 2003’s The Return of the King – may be over two decades old, but they remain cherished and talked about to this day . This is partly due to the fact that intellectual property has not had much impact since then, but also to the quality of the film adaptations. Of course, the source material of JRR Tolkien, the greatest work of high fantasy in history, helps a lot.

One of the things that many Lord of the Rings fans appreciate about the film trilogy is the many remarkable details that Jackson has sprinkled in, almost all of which pay immense homage to the original books. There are so many important details – often smaller ones – that many can go unnoticed.

Decades later, many Lord of the Rings fans are noticing – and only now learning – that in the films, Legolas walks on snow while the rest of the Fellowship walks in snow. This is also true in the books. The Reddit post highlighting this detail proved very popular, suggesting that many other die-hard fans apparently didn’t know this detail either.

Many of the comments on the post, however, are filled with surprised fans, as many have never noticed this detail, which is not only apparent in the films, but is also taken directly from the books.

“I’ve been watching these movies for 24 years and literally never noticed this before,” reads one of the comments on the post above. ” My God. I never noticed this detail in the film. This is very cool,” added a second comment.

Meanwhile, a third comment read: “Small? How can people miss it? It was one of the very first things we discussed among friends after leaving the cinema. I thought it was so obvious and profound that everyone noticed it right away. I mean, the difference in how he walks in the snow compared to the others is huge?

Of course, if many die-hard fans of the series missed this detail, then it can be assumed that many more casual fans missed this detail. Those who are very familiar with Legolas and the history surrounding the character will not be surprised, however.
