Liverpool game could see Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes suspended for two key matches

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes faces a Premier League ban.

The 28-year-old is on the brink of a two-match suspension, with just two more yellow cards to trigger it.

If he gets further bookings against Chelsea on Thursday and Liverpool this weekend, he will be absent for United’s matches with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

That’s because he’s already racked up eight bookings this season.

If a player receives ten yellow cards in their club’s first 32 Premier League matches, they face an automatic two-match suspension.

Fernandes served a suspension earlier this season due to accumulating five yellow cards.

This caused him to miss the December 17 match against Liverpool, which ended in a 0–0 draw.

If he fails to get his tenth yellow card before the Bournemouth game, the match against Liverpool will mark the last game where he will have to be careful to avoid a suspension.

And with sixth-placed United chasing a Champions League place, Erik ten Hag will be sweating at the thought of Fernandes finding himself off the referee’s book.

In the last nine Premier League matches, he has received just one booking, in February’s defeat to Fulham.

Yet no player in United’s squad has received more yellows than the former Sporting Lisbon maestro this season.

The Portuguese international is not the only one to collect a pile of cards, however, with several other players in the league close to suspension.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes are even closer to facing disciplinary action, with both nine yellow cards.

Simon Jordan criticizes Bruno Fernandes for faking an injury and insists the Manchester United midfielder deserves to be made fun of.

But unlike Brazilian midfielder Bruno, Senegal international Jackson can trigger a two-match ban if he is booked in the next four matches.

Two of his Blues teammates are also in danger, with Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer on eight and seven yellow cards respectively.
