- Liverpool failed to extend the contract of a man who has a year remaining
- Now they would have feared to be able to follow the example of Trent Alexander-Arnold
- Listen now: everything is launched! Was Cole Palmer right to leave Man City?
Liverpool would have feared that Ibrahima Konate could follow Trent Alexander-Arnold outside Anfield and join Real Madrid.
The Konate contract expires next year and there has been no positive update on progress towards a new one.
Alexander-Arnold announced its release after 20 years at the club earlier this month and spoke of his desire to “face a new challenge”.
His move to Real Madrid was not officially confirmed, but the Spanish giants have been confident to attract him since December, as Mail Sport reported.
Now the Reds have a “strange feeling” that Konate could do the same, according to Marca.
Konate confirmed in January that he had received a contractual offer from Liverpool but was cryptic when asked if he would sign it.

Spanish reports say they fear that he can do the same as teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold recently announced its release although a move to Madrid is not confirmed
“This is another conversation,” he said.
“Who spoke about it a few months ago (November)?” The club said nothing, I didn’t say anything, it’s a person (journalist) who says that.
“I was not ready, I did not know when he said but after talking to the club. But afterwards, I am really focused on what happened now and we will see what will happen.
Konate’s performances at the heart of the defense were impressive this season and it was not a surprise that Liverpool endured one of their most fled periods when he was injured between the end of November and the new year.
The Frenchman has now spent four seasons on the Merseyside and develops in the potential that led Liverpool to trigger his liberation clause of 36 million pounds sterling in RB Leipzig in 2021.
The chronicler of Mail Sport, Danny Murphy, feels that he and Van Dijk are as good partnerships as Gabriel Magalhaes d’Arsenal and William Saliba.
“There have been a lot of discussions on Gabriel and William Saliba for a few seasons, but these two have equaled them this season,” he said in match 2 in April.
“Look at the figures when they play together when they don’t. It’s really austere.

Its partnership with Virgil Van Dijk flourished and this campaign is in strong form

Danny Murphy and Shay given called Liverpool to attach it with a new agreement
“We don’t want to be in the same position next summer, Konate has only a year, which must be sorted.”
Shay has agreed, saying: “At the back of a brilliant season, you must attach it (Konate) down.
“You imagine that Van Dijk will also be in Konate’s ear, saying that it could be the start of something major at the club.”
Konate won five trophies with the Reds – the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Cup League (twice) and the community shield – while it also started during its final defeat of the 2022 Champions League by Madrid.
