Liverpool fans have been left wondering why Jordan Henderson was absent in a Sky Sports video where current and former players pay tribute to him.

The German will leave Anfield on Sunday after their final match of the season against Wolves.

It ends his nine-year tenure at the club, where the Reds have achieved incredible success, with the highlights being their Champions League triumph in 2019 and the end of their three-decade wait to win the league title a year later.

In the Sky Sports video, Klopp watched former and current players pay emotional tributes to him before his departure.

However, fans noted that Henderson – who managed the team for eight of nine seasons under Klopp – was not included in the video.

A fan commented: “Where is Hendo? He was their captain’, while another wrote ‘No Jordan Henderson in this Sky Klopp video’. Interesting.’

Another fan wondered if Henderson, who left Liverpool for Al-Ettifaq last summer, before joining Ajax in January, had ‘refused to contribute’.

While a fourth fan voiced his shocked questioning: “No contribution from Henderson?

Confusion over Henderson’s absence grew among fans due to the inclusion of other former players, including James Milner and Adam Lallana, both paying tribute to Klopp.

Henderson made 304 appearances under Klopp at Liverpool, with only Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold making more outings during the German’s time at Anfield.

Current Liverpool players included captain Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, Salah and Alisson Becker.

Club legends Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Kenny Dalglish also paid tribute to the German manager.

Gerrard paid glowing tribute to Klopp, comparing him to the club’s legendary former managers including Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley, while saying he hopes a “statue is in the works”.

Henderson's absence in the video could be because he plays in the Netherlands for Ajax.

Henderson’s exclusion from the video could be because he plays football in the Netherlands with Ajax, given that Firmino, Sadio Mane, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum – who also play abroad – were not present.

The England international left Anfield last summer as it became clear he would not play as regularly this season, due to the Reds’ midfield signings.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all joined the club last summer.

In a previous tribute to Klopp, Henderson said: “As a manager, tactically, he is incredible. What he has done at this football club since his arrival is truly phenomenal, the transformation.

“It’s no disrespect to Brendan (Rodgers) or anyone before. But I look at the transformation from when he came in to where it is today and it’s definitely increased in every area.

“He brought the whole club together – the fans, the players, the staff. He made the younger and older players even better. He has such a huge influence.
