The demonstrators gathered outside the headquarters of Washington, DC, to the police on Friday to protest against the federal control of President Donald Trump of the police of the city.
One of the demonstrators – Katie Garcia, 29 years old – lives in Washington, DC, since last year, and says that she now feels dangerous leaving her house.
“I am in DC Ward 2, and I have lived here for about a year, and it’s wild, because I came here for work, and I was really excited by the energy that this city brought. And I always wanted to live here,” said Garcia.
“With Trump’s takeover, I felt what was going on to DC is terrifying,” she added.
Marta Ames, a 74 -year -old DC resident who has been in the city since the 2000s, says she is not participating in the demonstrations, but felt obliged to come to the rally today.
“I have never seen anything like it. I was amazed. I mean, I am someone who believes in my first right, and we know that he does not believe that people should protest against everything he does “, adding that she is” afraid to death “.
“I am curious to know what federal troops … what they think and feel, because it is a waste of time.”
CNN observed dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the Metropolitan Police Department as part of the Rally.
Another demonstrator, Michael Segal, 64, lives in Capitol Hill, and says he saw people stop and asked for the documentation to show that they are American residents.
“The fact that I walk in the street, and I can stop for my papers at any time … It’s just astounding for me.”
