List: These HEB stores will close Sunday night due to Beryl

As customers rush to stock up on food and supplies, HEB has announced restrictions on certain items. Despite claims on social media, brisket is NOT restricted.

WHARTON, Texas — Grocery stores across the Greater Houston area and along the upper Texas coast were once again stocked up on food and supplies Sunday as people stocked up on Beryl.

All HEB, Joe V’s, Mi Tienda and Central Market stores in the Greater Houston area will delay opening on Monday, July 8 until noon. This includes all HEB gas stations and pharmacies within those stores.

HEB announced plans to close the following stores at 10 p.m. Sunday.

  • Bay City HEB
  • Edna HEB
  • The HEB Field
  • Lake Jackson HEB
  • Port Lavaca HEB
  • Wharton HEB

Once the storm passes, the Texas-based chain said it will assess the condition of each store before reopening to the public.

Home and curbside delivery may have limited availability in some areas.

Check back regularly for updates as additional stores may be added to the list of closures as Beryl impacts the Texas coast.

HEB also announced short-term limits on the following essential items.

  • Water Multipack – Limited to 2
  • gallon of water – limit 2
  • bakery products – limit 2
  • tortilla products – limit 2
  • ice – limit 4

HEB has confirmed that there is NO limit on brisket, despite the claim circulating on social media. This post has been viewed nearly 800,000 times. It appears to be a screenshot from an old news story. HEB did indeed limit brisket in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID pandemic.

“Our dedicated partners are ready to serve our customers with the products they need. Stock shortages are temporary. Our store is receiving deliveries and our partners will restock shelves with more products throughout the day,” HEB said in a statement.
