Lisa Wilkinson has spoken out after winning Bruce Lehrmann’s defamation case – after a judge found he raped Brittany Higgins in Parliament in 2019.
Mr Lehrmann was suing Network Ten and Wilkinson for defamation following a February 2021 report on The Project in which Brittany Higgins claimed he raped her in a Parliament office almost two years previously.
In delivering his judgment, Justice Michael Lee found Mr Lehrmann was indifferent to whether a drunken Brittany Higgins consented before raping her in Parliament.
“Mr Lehrmann raped Ms Higgins,” Judge Lee said of the night as he ruled in favor of Ten.
Outside court, a vindicated Lisa Wilkinson said: “Today the federal court found that I published a true story about a rape in a federal politician’s office in March 2019.
“I sincerely hope that this judgment will give strength to women across the country.
Lisa Wilkinson smiled and thanked the audience as she won a defamation case brought by Network 10.
