The Lions of Detroit withdrew their rule proposal which would have graduated the playoffs by record and not guaranteed the winners of the Division A home match.
On Wednesday, the owners of the NFL were to vote on the proposal during the spring meeting of the League.
In the proposal, only the winner of the division in each conference with the best record would be guaranteed an eliminatory game at home. The rest of the field of the playoffs would have been strictly classified by record.
In the current format, the four winners of the NFL in each conference are guaranteed a home match, whatever the record.
