The Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders released their injury designations ahead of Saturday night’s game in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
Let’s take a look at Thursday’s injury report and update what we know. Note that any changes from Tuesday’s report will be in bold.
Zeitler was unable to practice with the team this week, and although he worked with coaches on the sideline, he did not make enough progress to be cleared to play this game. According to Lions coach Dan Campbell, the team will turn to rookie Christian Mahogany to start at right guard.
“We thought it was a good performance from him and it was worth — if it gets there — giving him a chance,” Campbell said of Mahogany’s Week 16 starting performance. “But then again, we have (Kayode Awosika) Yode as well. He’s played snaps, playoff snaps for us and we trust him as well. So we feel like we’re in good hands.
O’Connor also missed practice all week and based on previous comments from the coaching staff, he could be headed to injured reserve this weekend.
Rakestraw began his injury evaluation last Thursday, but an illness kept him from practicing Tuesday and Wednesday this week. He was back on the practice field Thursday and a questionable designation leaves the door open for him to be activated to the 53-man roster before this game.
Montgomery was once thought to be lost for the season, but after taking four weeks to heal, he was able to practice fully all week and should be available for unlimited play.
Arnold left Week 18 on a trainer’s wagon and also looked potentially lost for the season. But like Montgomery, a little rest did Arnold some good and he also returned to a full week of training and should be ready to go again this Saturday.
Decker, who missed Thursday’s practice, confirmed to the media that his absence was related to him attend the birth of his son Dane.
