Lionesses superstar Keira Walsh had surprising training ground concerns ahead of world-record transfer to Barcelona

But former Barcelona star Vicky Losada has revealed how the England midfielder expressed particular concern before joining the Spanish club two years ago.

Walsh moved from Manchester City to Barcelona in 2022 for a fee of around £400,000.

It was an amount that saw her become the world’s most expensive player, until it was beaten again by Chelsea’s Mayra Ramirez and Bay FC’s Racheal Kundananji.

And Losada, herself a former Champions League winner with Barcelona, ​​was full of praise for the Lioness and her talent.

The Spain international and Brighton captain was visiting the final day of the Bloomsbury x LALIGA schools tournament in north London to inspire young girls to play football.

She told talkSPORT at the event how important it was for her to attend events like this and make sure aspiring footballers had role models to look up to.

And for so many promising footballers in England, there are few better role models than the Lionesses and Walsh.

“Keira is just talent, pure talent!” Losada told talkSPORT.

Losada recalls a funny conversation she had with Walsh as she prepared to move from the WSL to Barcelona.

The Lioness had expressed somewhat surprising concern, especially given her remarkable talent on the field.

“I remember she told me when she was going to sign for Barcelona, ​​she was like, ‘I’m going to be the worst in rondos!'” Losada said.

“And I thought, no, you won’t! You’re one of the most talented players in England! But yeah, she was just messing around a bit.”

The Lionesses resume their Euro 2025 qualifying campaign with a double head-to-head against France.

They will play them at home on Friday evening at St James’ Park and away on Tuesday June 4 at the Stade Geoffrory-Guichard in Saint-Etienne.

After securing a win against the Republic of Ireland and a draw against Sweden in their first two qualifying matches, the reigning European champions will look to collect as many points as possible in what is set to be two games difficult.
