A startup that uses AI translation technology to make new YouTube channels for creators targeting different places has won $ 8.5 million in seed funding.
Linguana is directed by the co -founder and CEO Yuval Tal, an Israeli series entrepreneur who previously founded Borderfree, the financial services company, the financial services company and the electronic commerce company. Linguana will use funds to invest in technology and on board more creators, Tal told Business Insider.
Linguana is already working with hundreds of youtubers for which he generates 10,000 video translations – and hundreds of thousands of dollars new income – each month. He is looking for established creators with more than a million views per month which focuses on persistent -leaf subjects.
It is one of the many startups that seek to exploit AI to help companies on the scale. Dubbing in particular is a burning subject of the creator’s economy, with MrBeast defending the tools.
YouTube unveiled its own automatic features in December, which are currently available on a limited basis.
But Tal argued that the creation of autonomous channels leads to a better audience. It allows translated miniatures and video descriptions, as well as sections of comments that are not obscured by different languages, he said.
The AI technology of Linguana captures the tone of creators’ voices, and the company works with human examiners to check its work.
CMO Jonny Steel told Bi that Linguana’s objective was “ultimate authenticity” to ensure that creators sound as if they were talking in the different languages themselves. He said that the company had received comments from creators according to which he had a “better quality of precision” than Google’s automatic disorder tools.
Linguana does not load in advance. Rather, he shares income with creators on the backend in a 50/50 split. Tal described it as “additional income without doing anything”.
After having signed an agreement, Linguana has access to the chain of a creator. He chooses the videos to double, deletes all brand integrations, then published at an optimal moment, as well as translated miniatures and video descriptions.
It also breaks the catalogs of creators to choose videos that are most likely to resonate in other regions.
“You have to make the crystal ball of which videos to put where,” said Tal.
A creative partner is the gardener Charles Dowding, who said that his six localized channels now saw 250,000 views per month. For some international creators in Russia and Brazil, where announcements can be lower, the location has generated gains “that change life,” said Tal.
Providential investors who contributed to the round include Oren Zeev, Zohar Gilon, Eyal Waldman and Oren Dobronsky. The venture capital company at the start of the 2LVC stadium also invested.
