Lily Allen admits she travels first class, leaving her daughter in economy

Lily Allen has sparked backlash after revealing she had moved to first class and her daughter to economy class for an upcoming flight to London.

The singer made the confession while speaking to her childhood friend Miquita Oliver on their BBC podcast. You miss me?

Allen told her co-host that when she flew back to London for her friend’s birthday with her 11-year-old daughter Ethel, she decided to sit apart from her.

“We’re flying to London today to come see you for your birthday. I’m going first class, she’s going economy,” she said.

“You know what it is?” Oliver said while Allen joked, “Selfish?

Oliver continued: “The circle of life. This baby is now coming to London because you are living in New York for my 40th birthday, which we are celebrating at the end of the road we grew up on.

Allen responded, “There’s a trend going on on social media right now where people are defiantly saying they won’t give up their seats to kids on planes,” to which her friend agreed, saying, “Fair enough . Why would you give your place to a child if you paid for it? It’s not like a train.

However, Allen then argued that airline passengers should be careful of families who are not seated next to each other.

“Very often when you’re a big group, the airline separates the seats,” she explained.

“You will arrive at the airport and they will tell you that your child is sitting (away from you) and so when you get on the plane you have to ask people if they don’t mind moving so you can sit next to your children.”

“Obviously it’s embarrassing for everyone involved, but I find it fascinating that it’s now become something that gives you influence on social media when you’re like, ‘A mother came up to me and asked to move and I told them to f–k'”. disabled.’ Is this what we have become? Well done, you allowed a family to separate from each other.

Allen insisted that some families may not have had the opportunity to reserve spots in advance and shared his wish that people would be a little kinder to others.

“Tell me who puts me in first class when my child is alone in the back of the plane. I don’t want to sit with my child,” the singer laughed.

His remarks left social media divided, with some lashing out at the star for appearing to contradict himself.

“Very good for some, isn’t it,” one remarked, while another said: “Poor flight attendant, left to do her job!”

However, others supported the singer, saying her refusal to bring her child first class would help them stay “grounded”.
