The 48GP900-B features a very similar WOLED panel to the LG 48-inch C1 OLED TV, but with a few key differences. Instead of the semi-gloss coating found on the TV, the 48GP900 features an anti-glare matte coating that’s better for close-up use on a desktop monitor as it’s much less reflective. The 48GP900 also features DisplayPort connectivity and lacks the built-in Smart TV interface. It carries over the HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K at 120Hz compatibility for PS5 and Xbox Series X owners, as well as VRR and G-SYNC support. Additionally, the 120Hz refresh rate can be overclocked to 138Hz when used as a PC monitor. There are also other handy features you’d find on LG gaming monitors in general, like an FPS counter and a built-in crosshair. Finally, if aesthetics matter to you, there is subtle RGB backlighting on the back of the monitor which is not present on OLED TVs.

Why Choose an OLED Gaming Monitor?

When it comes to high-end gaming monitors, there are plenty of options to choose from. But one thing is for sure, you can’t go wrong with OLED. OLED monitors outshine any IPS, VA, or TN panel in terms of raw image quality. They have the best contrast ratio and dynamic range thanks to their near-infinite black levels and the ability to turn individual LEDs on and off. They also have near-instantaneous response times, making ghosting a thing of the past. OLED monitors are typically much more expensive, but for now, the LG 48GP900-B’s price puts it on par with other high-end non-OLED monitors.
