Lewis Hamilton Makes ‘Hot Lap’ With Kendall Jenner As Ed Sheeran Admits To Writing Off Aston Martin DB9

Lewis Hamilton was able to forget about Mercedes’ speed problems – by taking Kendall Jenner for a ‘Hot Lap’ in Miami.

The Mercedes driver and teammate George Russell took American model and British popstar Ed Sheeran for a spin around the track.

Hamilton and Russell had disappointing qualifying Friday for the Miami sprint race, failing to make it out of SQ2.

Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, started Saturday’s sprint from 12th on the grid, one place behind his young British compatriot.

However, the two had an instant chance to shake off Mercedes’ difficulties by taking celebrities for a hot ride in Miami.

The F1 Pirelli Hot Laps program gives VIPs the chance to experience being driven hard in a supercar by a professional driver on a real circuit.

Social media star Jenner uploaded an Instagram story from the Miami Grand Prix, with Hamilton behind the wheel.

Once they’re done greeting each other, Jenner only reveals, “He said to me, ‘Do you want to go back,’ no, no, no, I’m fine!”

Russell teamed up with Sheeran for the high-speed pass, where the musician admitted he wrote off his £200,000 Aston Martin DB9.

Sheeran said: “I wrote off a car once, so I’m quite sensitive to speed – A DB9, so yeah, I’ve got a Volvo.”

Sheeran had an eventful weekend in Miami after seeing his beloved Ipswich Town win promotion on Saturday.

Tractor Boys beat Huddersfield Town 2-0 on the final day of the Championship season to send them back to the Premier League.

As well as being a huge fan of the club, Sheeran has sponsored the club’s jersey since 2021 and even wore one for the Grand Prix.

He got up at 7 a.m. in Florida to watch the team on TV and then FaceTimed the Ipswich players to congratulate them on their achievements.

Meanwhile, Jenner was on hand in Miami as an ambassador, posing for photos with Susie Wolff and Tommy Hilfiger.

Mercedes drivers Hamilton and Russell are hoping to build pace with their hot laps leading up to Sunday’s Grand Prix.

The teammate only managed P8 and P7 respectively in qualifying after a disappointing P16 and P12 in the sprint.

“Of course we all have higher standards than that and hope and expect more, but we have to accept that this is where we are as a team right now,” Russell said.

“I think we know where the problems are in the car and we need to make big changes to fix them. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen overnight.

“We always have a better Sunday than Saturday, so even with the car we have, I think we will take a step forward. But I think our problems are becoming clearer and clearer and what we need to do to make things move faster.”
