Lewis Hamilton gives mischievous advice as Lando Norris delays flight to party with Travis Kelce and Max Verstappen
Lando Norris had an unforgettable night in Miami – at least if he remembers it – after winning his first Grand Prix.
The British McLaren driver dazzled among the glitz and glamor of Florida, coming home first ahead of his friend Max Verstappen.
It was a sensational drive, even if it allowed him to make his fortune thanks to a mid-race safety car.
And since it was his first victory, many drivers were present to give the 24-year-old driver some advice on how to enjoy it.
The Bristolian received hugs from McLaren CEO Zak Brown, who seemed more determined than anyone to show his star a good time.
Meanwhile, his compatriot and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton looked mischievous as he revealed he had passed on some advice.
“Honestly, I feel so happy for Lando right now,” he told Sky Sports.
“I just told him he had to stay tonight. He’s going to try to change flights. He has to, he just won a race.”
Norris had clearly taken the advice on board.
He laughed nervously at the post-race press conference: “Well, I was supposed to fly but Zak Brown told me we would fly tomorrow.
“I’m not going to sleep. I’m going all the way.”
Referring to the mark on his face that he picked up during rowdy King’s Day celebrations in the Netherlands, he added: “I could end up with more than just a scratch on my nose tomorrow.
“But I don’t care. I’m going to enjoy my time. That only happens once, when you get your first win. It’s good to do it here in Miami. I was kind of hoping that this would be at Silverstone but I will try to do it there too.
And his good friend Verstappen laughed: “It’s definitely better to come out here.”
Norris replied, “That’s right. Tonight is going to be a good night.”
Norris was later spotted surrounded by stars, including NFL superstar Travis Kelce and Red Bull star Verstappen.
