Headliner Oasis, a longtime bar and nightclub on the Jersey Shore, will close its doors for good later this month and be demolished for a redevelopment project in Neptune Township.
Tom Sueta, general manager of the Headliner, announced the closure on social media Saturday, immediately sparking hundreds of nostalgic comments from longtime customers.
“It is with great mixed emotions that we announce: headliner Oasis will be closing its doors,” Sueta said in a Facebook post signed “Tom and Jo Jo.”
“Our last day of business will be October 20, as we break ground on the exciting new Neptune redevelopment project. »
The redevelopment project called Waterways at Neptune includes demolishing the Headliner to build a hotel, two residential buildings, restaurants and retail space, according to app.com.
The headliner has witnessed “thousands of lasting relationships and marriages that start here” and supported “hundreds of incredible charities,” Sueta said.
“We have been truly blessed over the years,” Sueta said in the post. “We are deeply proud of the role we have played in the community and, beyond that, grateful for the memories we have shared with all of you. »
The facility will remain open for several final events.
Sunday will be devoted to football, while Monday will be hosted by Rob Bush. Thursday will include karaoke and poker.
The following Saturday will be a Sisters for a Cure benefit at 1 p.m., followed by a Notre Dame Fan Club game at 7 p.m.
The final Sunday, October 19, will feature a Halloween edition of Unicorn Bingo.
“Thank you to all the great employees I have had and the friendships I have made. I have been truly blessed on this unforgettable trip!” » said Sueta.
He encouraged customers to stop for “one last farewell cocktail” to celebrate their time together before closing.
