Leaker claims iPhone 16 Pro will feature a 20% brighter display for better SDR content, going from 1,000 nits to 1,200 nits

Apple seems to be working to improve the display quality of its products. The company recently revealed the new iPad Pro models with OLED displays, which could be the highlight of the upgrade. The tech giant now plans to improve the display of the iPhone 16 Pro by increasing its brightness level by up to 20%. A Weibo leaker known as Instant Digital says Apple plans to increase the brightness of the iPhone 16 Pro by 20%, claiming the devices will have up to 1,200 nits of brightness for content SDR. Note that this will not impact the devices’ peak brightness, which should remain the same at 1,600 nits.

Apple hasn’t changed the iPhone’s SDR brightness since the debut of the iPhone 13 Pro. After resting at 1,000 nits for a few years, the company could offer improved brightness levels with the iPhone 16 Pro lineup. Although maximum brightness is beneficial in outdoor conditions, SDR is used in the majority of situations, and a 20% increase would be a welcome addition.
