Lawyers present final arguments in fraud case against former Theranos chairman

Government prosecutors in the criminal fraud trial of former Theranos Inc. second-in-command Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani made their final argument to the jury during closing arguments on Tuesday, as the Silicon Valley case comes close to a resolution.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff Schenk said Mr. Balwani, longtime chairman and chief operating officer of the now-defunct blood-testing startup, had full knowledge of the fraud he was committing because he was responsible for the Theranos lab and was knowledgeable about its many test accuracy and reliability issues and fired employees who raised concerns.
