Warning: major spoilers in advance for “Love is blind“Season eight.
The star of “Love is Blind” Dave Bettenburg knows that he has messed up with regard to his break with Lauren O’Brien.
In the eight season, Lauren, a 31 -year -old woman working in educational sales, and Dave, a 33 -year -old medical devices seller, were one of the five minneapolis couples that we saw ourselves invisible after frequenting a wall. Unfortunately, they were not intended to be one of the few successful marriages “Love is blind” because they separated into episode 11 before going to the altar.
Since the dissemination of the rupture, Lauren and Dave have addressed what happened between them. Dave, in particular, is confronted with an upheaval of his behavior, which has even spread to his family, and has trouble having the impression of having been misunderstood. Here is a summary of their relationship and what they have each said since.
Dave and Lauren engaged in the pods after being in a love triangle, but their relationship quickly deteriorated
Dave distinguished himself at the start of the part of the pods of the season when he opened all his first dates by asking women who did not go with them. Despite this – and the fact that he joked by saying that Lauren was no longer attractive as a 30 -year -old woman – the two built a relationship.
The first index of what would become a major problem in their relationship occurred on their second date in episode one, when they talked about their families. He admitted that his sister was not “delighted” with him participating in the show, although he felt as if it was the right decision.
The other major problem in the pods was that Dave also had a link with another woman: Molly, an executive assistant of 30 years. He continued to go out with Molly and Lauren during several episodes. Things finally came to the head of episode four, when Lauren faced Dave and asked if he had told Molly that she was her n ° 1, as she had heard Molly say in women’s accommodation. In episode five, Dave said that he had not told Molly that she was her n ° 1 and that Lauren was the only person he said that she could be offered.
Later in this episode, Dave broke with Molly. Subsequently, Molly and Lauren had a heart to heart in the districts of women and agreed that David had put them in a bad position, ending their friendship on a good note.
Despite the drama, Lauren and Dave reconciled, and in episode five, he offered her. During the group holidays after commitment to Honduras, the two liked to know each other, although Dave seemed rather fixed to find out if the other couples had still had sex (Him and Lauren, he was very clear, had not done so).
And during a boat date in episode seven, Dave mentioned what would ultimately be the fall in their relationship: he had common friends with two guys that Lauren was previously released, and he did not know that she had seen someone just before participating in the series. “It’s a bit weird that I know them,” said Dave. “I don’t want it to affect our relationship to our return.”
Spoiler alert: this actually affected their relationship.
Dave did not trust Lauren and her family did not want to meet her, which finally led to their breakup
Dave’s distrust of Lauren has bled her family’s problems with the whole process. He did not feel at ease to bring Lauren to meet his family, who did not seem eager to meet her either, given their general aversion to the whole process “love is blind” and what they had heard from others about him.
In episode 10, Dave and Lauren argued again on the refusal of his friends and family to meet her, saying that he did not want to waste their time because he did not make them meet anyone. During a bowling alley, Dave estimated how it was affected by everyone’s external opinions on Lauren and their relationship.
“If you don’t see it with me, then I want to know,” Lauren told Dave. “I don’t know how long I can continue to do this.”
In episode 11, they went to an empty cinema to continue the conversation, once again reworking their different views of the pre- “Libup” of Lauren: Dave believed that Lauren was not truthful and had not ended the relationship, while Lauren said that she and the guy she had seen had “different interpretations” of their time together and that there was no “relationship” to finish.
In the end, Dave broke with Lauren after saying that it was something he needed to work through himself. “You are not ready to choose someone else and be a member of the team with him,” she said. Dave said that he was still in love with Lauren and that it was difficult for him to move away, but Lauren did not believe it was true and said that he would have tried stronger to solve their problems if he had really loved her enough.
The two found themselves again face to face during the meeting of the Pod team in episode 11, where they also spoke to Molly, the other Dave connection. Molly first spoke to Lauren in private, thanking Lauren again for having been nice to her when she and Dave broke. She revealed that she had heard another woman was “everywhere” when they were in the same bar with other actors a night when Dave stayed outside and slept in her apartment after arguing with Lauren.
Lauren was surprised to hear this, but told Molly that she and Dave had already broken the previous night. They evacuated their mutual frustrations on Dave.
Molly and Dave then spoke in private, where Molly posed in Dave of her treatment in Lauren and hung on to Lauren’s previous tangle so much. She also criticized him for having put as much stock in the opinion of her sister, at the cost of her relationship with Lauren.
Dave told the cameras that he wanted to send an SMS to Lauren just after their breakup but did not do it. He then withdrew Lauren from Côté, and they had an emotional conversation where Dave took responsibility for their breakup and recognized that he had been closed to her.
“It was my fault. It was my ego that bothered to see what we had. I guess what I say is, I’m really sorry,” he told Lauren.
He admitted his love to Lauren again and said that what they had had was real, suggesting that he wanted to try again. Lauren told her that she was sorry to feel bad and that she wanted to believe what he was saying, but it was too late.
“I think we have exceeded that,” she said.
Dave and Lauren recovering together after the show does not seem likely, depending on what they said
In an interview with Glamor, Lauren thought about the turn of her relationship with Dave, saying that she felt an immediate change in him when they recovered their phone at Honduras airport by returning to Minneapolis.
“I discovered later that it was they who said essentially to him:” You just gave you someone with someone with a boyfriend “”, said Lauren about Dave’s group conversation with her friends.
She clarified that the man she saw knew from the start that they were not in a serious relationship because she was in the casting process for “love is blind”, and also criticized Dave for not having tried to address the situation where the cameras did not drive and only saved their discussions for the shoot. She said it was just Dave to question him, but not just for him to exclude him from conversations about him and not to hear his side of history.
Regarding Dave’s attempt to repair their relationship during the meeting of the Pod team, Lauren said that it seemed “very fallacious”.
“I did not understand how he could have made a complete 180 within 24 hours since we had seen each other,” she told Glamor. “And I was so emotionally exhausted while trying to navigate by myself for a week and to do it now as if he was ready to face it, I was so defeated. I did not believe it was actually something that he was able to do.”
Lauren told people in a separate interview that she had the impression that Dave obsessed with her sexual history was perhaps an excuse so that Dave retired from their commitment, as fans have theorized.
Dave, for his part, told people that the reason why their relationship had failed was “mainly the chronology of everything” and that he did not know what really happened between Lauren and the man with whom she was involved before the show. He said that he had only hearing negative things about Lauren’s past: “And I’m just like, there is simply no way to marry this person if that’s what he was doing when he entered it,” he said. “I can’t justify this.”
He said he could have stayed with Lauren and go beyond if the end goal was not marriage, and that was part of the reason he did not want to involve his family. “I got to the point where I was, I will not force my best friends and family members to come and watch me say no to the altar when I knew it would be my answer according to the information I had at that time,” he said.
Dave also told people that he and Lauren had spoken after filming and he had expressed that he hoped that she would understand his point of view when the show was released. He said he was “absolutely” ready for marriage, despite Lauren’s criticism of him during their rupture conversation, and that “love is blind” had helped him see that he could be vulnerable and meet his person.
He also told Vulture that it was difficult for him and his family to be at the end of the hatred that people watched him fight in the series. “”I am very misunderstood by many people right now, and it’s very difficult to manage, “he said.
So, on the whole, it seems that these two are extremely finished. But do not fear: if there is a drama left to be drawn from the relationship of Lauren and Dave, it is sure to come to the meeting “Love is blind” on Sunday.
The meeting of the eight “Love is Blind” season will be broadcast on Sunday at 9 p.m. on on Netflix.
