Hamas is studying the mediators’ latest ceasefire proposal, according to a statement released Tuesday morning local time, after negotiators left Cairo and a senior official said the talks were “suspended.” Hamas criticized the proposal as not meeting Palestinian demands, but nevertheless said it would provide a response once its review was completed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his intention to invade the southern Gaza town of Rafah and said a date had been set, but he did not specify when.
