‘Last of Us’ Season 2 Casts Jeffrey Wright as Isaac

Jeffrey Wright has joined season 2 of HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’, Variety has learned.

Wright will appear in the role of Isaac, whom he previously played in the video game “The Last Us Part II.” The character is described as “the quiet and powerful leader of a large militia who sought freedom but instead became mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.”

Wright will appear in the series alongside the series’ main protagonists, Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley. New cast members this season include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen and Danny Ramirez as Manny. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars in an undisclosed role.

Wright is one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation. He recently received his first Oscar nomination for his leading role in the film “American Fiction”, for which he also received a Golden Globe. He is also a five-time Emmy nominee, winning Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries for HBO’s “Angels in America.” He previously won a Tony Award for the Broadway production of “Angels in America.” He has been nominated for three Emmy Awards for his work on HBO’s “Westworld” and, most recently, for best voice-over performance for the Marvel animated series “What If…?” Wright’s other credits include “The Batman,” three of the Daniel Craig James Bond films, “Asteroid City” and both “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” films.

He is repped by CAA, Strategic PR and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

“The Last of Us” is written and produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. Both also directed episodes of the series and will do so again in season 2. Carolyn Strauss and Evan Wells, president of Naughty Dog, serve as executive producers alongside Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions as well as Jacqueline Lesko and Cecil O’Connor. . The series is a co-production between HBO and Sony Pictures Television. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint and Naughty Dog are producing.
