A dog lets his curiosity make the most of it, as the photos show.
The puppy found himself in an awkward position when he got his head stuck in an old wheel, Montana officials said.
“When we say we’ve seen almost everything, sometimes we’re surprised by something new, like this weekend,” Bozeman Fire officials said on Facebook.
The owner of the animal, whom authorities have not identified, took his dog to the fire station to seek help. His head was stuck in the center of the tire, wearing the wheel like an oversized steel collar, as the photos show.
Firefighters quickly got to work helping the dog free himself from the wheel, Bozeman Fire said. They used the Jaws of Life and extrication tools to cut the wheel in half and away from the dog’s neck.
“It’s a point of appreciation for us when a local owner doesn’t know what to do and knows there is always a place that is willing to do their best to make someone’s day better,” said said fire officials. “This is where Bozeman Fire happily comes in.”
It is not uncommon for dogs to be trapped in tires.
In California, an Australian cattle dog got its head stuck in a spare tire and couldn’t move freely, McClatchy News reported. This time, officials had to sedate the dog so they could cut the wheel and free the puppy.
“Within moments the cut was made and the puppy, a 3-month-old Australian cattle dog, took out,” officials said. “The puppy ate food quickly after the rescue. She will rest overnight and be under observation until she returns to her rightful owners.
