Las Vegas Widow Amy Williams’ Husband’s Rare Comic Book Collection Stolen, Depriving Son of Father’s Inheritance

A widow was left heartbroken when she discovered her late husband’s rare comic book collection had been stolen from her home despite the books having been in her family for generations.

Amy Williams’ husband, Johnny Williams, died of a heart attack in 2022 — just two years after welcoming their son Makari into the world, KVVU-TV reported.

“He just wanted to love me forever,” she told the outlet. “Even though I didn’t get my eternal life, I’m happy I gave him his forever.”

Johnny had left behind two bins full of comic books and said that – aside from being rare and kept in pristine condition – they had even greater sentimental value to his legacy.

Last month, while she was out of town, someone broke into Williams’ home and stole two trash cans containing about 400 comic books.

“I went to my closet and I was like, ‘Oh my God, they’re gone,'” she told the outlet.

They had been part of her husband’s family for four generations and were what he learned to read as a child since he was dyslexic.

He was so passionate about his collecting that he had a YouTube channel where he discussed his love for his comics.

Before her death, she often found her husband lost while reading comic books from his collection and even reading them to her infant son.

Williams said the cost of losing the comics deprived their son of having a connection with his father, as Johnny planned to pass them on to Makari when he was older.

“He wanted them to be passed down to my son and his children,” Williams said.

“You broke my child’s heart and you broke my family’s heart by doing what you did,” Williams said sternly of the thieves.

Although she has faced financial difficulties since her husband’s death, the idea of selling the collection never occurred to her.

“You couldn’t put a price on it,” she said.

The heartbroken widow said even if she got a comic book back from the collection, it would mean the world to her to be able to give their son something in memory of his father.

Williams hopes that the culprits responsible for stealing the comics will be found if they try to sell them since her husband had some of them noted down, and if they were to be sold, her name would be attached to them.

She hopes comic book stores, online retailers and buyers will stay on the lookout for Johnny’s comics.
