Large section of Baltimore’s Key Bridge removed from water

On Sunday, April 14, rescue crews successfully removed a large portion of the Francis Scott Key Bridge that was blocking the Fort McHenry Canal on the Patapsco River, officials said.

This image was released by the U.S. Coast Guard, which said it showed Section 1-A of the bridge removed from the water.

“Removal of debris and wreckage continues to meet the top priority of opening the Fort McHenry Channel safely and efficiently,” the Coast Guard said.

On Monday, April 15, local media reported that FBI had launched a criminal investigation into the incident, while Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott announced that the city was taking “legal action to hold the perpetrators accountable and to mitigate the immediate and long-term harm caused to the residents of the Baltimore City.” Credit: US Coast Guard via Storyful
