Large fights to monitor in phase 5 – Firstpost

India is progressing towards the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The vote will take place in 49 districts in six states and two territories of the Union on May 20.

As Monday evening ended, the polls would have ended in 376 of the 543 seats of Lok Sabha. In the fifth phase, voters will decide the fate of 695 candidates.

Fourteen out of the 80 parliamentary seats in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Maharashtra, seven in Western Bengal, five each in Bihar and Odisha, three in Jharkhand and each in Jammu-et-Cachemire and Ladakh will go to polls.

The vote in just two phases will be left after May 20. While we get closer to the results of the general elections on June 4, we look at the main candidates to monitor in the fifth phase.

Uttar Pradesh Lucknow

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh requests a third term in the constituency of Lucknow Lok Sabha. He won the siege in the 2019 polls by a margin of 3.47 Lakh.

Ponam Soutrughan Sinha of the Samajwadi Party (SP) had become the first finalist, winning 285,724 votes, while the Congress candidate at the time Acharya Pramod Krishnam won 180,011 votes.

The capital of Uttar Pradesh has remained a bastion of the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) party for decades now. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been a five -color deputy for Lucknow since 1991.

This time, Rajnath Singh is in confrontation against the candidate of the Bloc India Ravidas Mehrotra du SP and the SPS of Bahujan Samaj (BSP) Mohammad Sarwar Malik.

Rae Bareli from Uttar Pradesh

The chief of the Congress Rahul Gandhi is in the fray of Rae Bareli. While speculation was raised that he could again fight from Amethhi, his candidacy of Rae Bareli, who was detained by his mother Sonia Gandhi before moving to Rajya Sabha in April, was a surprise.

In the 2019 polls, Sonia Gandhi won the headquarters with 534,918 votes, beating the BJP candidate, Dinesh Pratap Singh, who won 367,740 votes. She was the only deputy for the Uttar Pradesh congress that year.

Rahul Gandhi, who also challenged Kerala Wayanad, will face the BJP and Thakur Prasad Yadav Du BJP Dinesh.

Maharashtra’s Mumbai North

Voters from six Mumbai districts will exercise their franchise on May 20.

The Minister of Union, Piyush Goyal, is one of the eminent candidates of this phase. The BJP has aligned him from the northern siege of Mumbai against Bhushan Patil of Congress.

Patil, who is vice-president of the Congress Unit, Mumbai, had fought from Borivali during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

In the 2019 polls, the Gopal Shetty of the BJP had recorded a landslide victory in the constituency of Mumbai North with 706,678 votes and 71.40%. He had defeated Urmila Matondkar of the Congress which obtained 241,431 votes.

These include the first election of Lok Sabha de Goyal.

Uttar Pradesh amethi

The Minister of Union and seated Amethi Mp Smriti Irani is competing for his seat. She had become a giant killer in 2019 when she rout Rahul Gandhi from her family fortress.

Irani had defeated the Gandhi Scion with a margin of more than 55,000 votes from Amethi.

This time, the candidate of the Congress for the Headquarters of Lok Sabha of high level was a surprise, without Gandhis who presents himself from Amethi after more than 25 years.

Irani is against Kishori Lal Sharma, a former assistant to trust the Gandhi family, and Nanhe Singh Chauhan from BSP.

Bihar hajipur

Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti party (RAM Vilas), an ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP, is fighting in the constituency of Hajipur, reserved for the planned castes (SCS).

His father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan, won from Hajipur in 1977 and then represented the siege eight times before moving to Rajya Sabha.

In the 2019 surveys, Hajipur’s headquarters were won by the Pashupati Kumar uncle by.

Chirag had to fight hard to secure the headquarters of Hajipur, that his uncle, who divided the LJP in two, was relentless to abandon. However, the NDA finally chose the son of Ram Vilas on Pashupati Paras.

Other seats

The leader of the National Conference (NC), Omar Abdullah, is fighting against Jammu-et-Cachemire Baramulla Lok Sabha seat. He is challenged by Sajad Lone of the popular conference and the president of the Awami Ittehad party, Abdul Rashid Sheikh, also known as the Rashid engineer.

Arvind Sawant of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) is in the running to be re -elected posh Mumbai South seat. He presents himself against the candidate Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and the deputy of Byculla Yamini Jadhav.

In the Uttar Pradesh KaiserganjThe BJP aligned Karan Bhushan Singh, the youngest son of the assigned BRIJ Bhushan Sharan Singh who faces accusations of sexual harassment. He is against Bhagat Ram Mishra of the SP and Narendra Pandey of the BSP.

The daughter of the RJD, the chief of the RJD, the daughter of Yadav, Rohini ACHARYA, made her electoral debut of the BIHH Saran. She seeks to retaliate the former bastion of her father to the candidate of the BJP and the deputy seated Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

The chief of the Mumbai of Congress unit, Varsha Gaikwad, tests his luck at the Mumbai North Central electoral district. She presents herself against the principal criminal lawyer of the BJP candidate, Ujjwal Nikam. Lawyer Ramzan Choudhary from All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), STATH Belamkar and actor Ajaz Khan de Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi.

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti of the BJP aims to secure the Uttar Pradesh Fatehpur for a third term.
The SP has given a ticket to Naresh Uttam Patel from the headquarters.
