Gabriel Landeskog was loaned by the Colorado Avalanche in the Colorado of the American Hockey League during a packaging assignment.
The 32 -year -old striker trained with their AHL affiliate on Wednesday, and the big club hopes to have an update on his state the next day or two.
“I am not here to judge a part of his trip or part of his progress, but he jumped directly in practice, did all the exercises, worked hard,” said AHL Colorado coach Aaron Schneekloth. “Looked like a hockey player.
“I am sure that I will have a certain direction if it comes down to that, if he enters a game with us. I am sure that I will have a direction on what he wants and what he needs. But today, it was a complete practice and he participated, and he looks great.”
Landekog, the avalanche captain, has not played since June 26, 2022, when he helped them win the Stanley Cup. He had a cartilage transplant in his right knee on May 10, 2023 and was on the long -term injured reserve.
Landeskog crossed a complete training on March 17 and traveled with the avalanche, but should not come back before the Stanley Cup elimination series.
“He looks good; I thought he looked good in practice today,” said avalanche coach Jared Bednar thereafter. “Obviously, like a kind of flow of flow and flow contacts. Certainly, (it’s) pleasant to have it there.
“It makes progress. Obviously, this rehabilitation is not linear. There are many peaks and valleys, and sometimes it is two stages forward and one step back, but it always makes progress and obviously feels fairly comfortable to go out and join the team with certain exercises. So, I hope that it continues and continues to develop and (it) works at a return point.
“It’s really difficult to say (when he plays again), but things are going well and it’s certainly pleasant to put it back on the ice with our team,” said Bednar. “Just the energy and the attitude he brings to the ice, I think, helps everyone.”
Selected by Colorado with choice n ° 2 at the NHL 2011 draft, Landeskog has 571 points (248 goals, 323 assists) in 738 regular season games and 67 points (27 goals, 40 assists) in 69 eliminations of the Stanley Cup. He collected 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 20 playoffs in 2022.
The avalanche (48-27-4) is third in the central division, six points behind the stars of Dallas.
