Lamorne Morris Joins Amazon Series as Robbie Robertson

Actor-comedian Lamorne Morris (Fargo) was cast as a series regular opposite Nicolas Cage in Spider-Black, MGM+ and Prime Video’s upcoming live-action series based on the Marvel comics Spider-Man Noir. On the television series produced by Sony Pictures, which was renamed after its original title Black To highlight his lineage in the Spider-Man universe, Morris will play the character of Robbie Robertson.

Spider-Black, executive producers/co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, tells the story of an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York who is forced to confront his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.

Morris’ character Robbie Robertson is a driven, hard-working, and unapologetic man. A dedicated journalist trying to make it despite the odds as a black professional in 1930s New York, he takes on riskier stories that no one else would cover in order to get attention and a paycheck. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to make his career.

Harry Bradbeer is set to direct and produce the first two episodes of the series, which Uziel and Lightfoot developed with the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VersePhil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, who also serve as executive producers. Spider-Black will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and then globally on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.

FargoHe was recently cast in the Sony Pictures film SNL 1975 as original Saturday Night Live Garret Morris, cast member. Morris has a recurring role in the second season of the Netflix comedy series.
