Lamar Jackson respects Josh Allen but strives to help Ravens beat him

“It seems like most guys are like that now,” Harbaugh said. “Like a guy like Bo Nix comes into the league this year, and he’s that type of guy, and Justin Herbert is that type of guy. I mean, they’re kind of everywhere now. It seems more like the mold now. It used to break the mold, but now it seems to be becoming the mold.”

As a founding member of the Human Highlight Club, Jackson admires Allen’s creativity.

“His ability to make things happen when the pieces fail,” Jackson said. “Strong arm, make any throw on the field.”

Harbaugh said he respected Allen’s passion for winning, which is another trait he shares with Jackson. During his rookie season, Allen objected to something Ravens legend Terrell Suggs said or did and let him know.

“I mean (Josh Allen is the) ultimate type competitor. Obviously, he’s got a fiery personality. We saw that his freshman year,” Harbaugh said. “I don’t know what happened. He got hit on the sidelines or something, and he came back swinging. I respected that.”

The upcoming competition between Jackson and Allen’s teams is highly anticipated and will make for great theater. But Jackson said he couldn’t take his intensity to the next level. It’s already at its peak.

“It’s the same as last week,” Jackson said. “I feel like our guys are just cooped up. The playoff atmosphere is pretty serious around the building. We’ve joked, but not that much. The guys are just cooped up, because a lot of us were here last year, and we know what’s at stake for us.”
