Houston – Jack McGlynn scored his first goal of the season, and Blake Gillingham had his first bleaching in MLS on Saturday evening to help Houston beat the Los Angeles FC 1-0 for the first victory of the dynamo of the season.
McGlynn scored in the 58th minute to give the dynamo its first advance since the start of the second half of the defeat of the Houston 2-1 season against FC Dallas. The 21 -year -old, during his first season with the club after spending his first four seasons MLS with the Philadelphia Union, hit Griffin Dorsey’s pass near the midfield. Dorsey slipped a pass between the legs of defender Artem Smolyakov at the bottom of the right touch line towards McGlynn, who cut inside before exploding a low blow of almost 25 meters, slipped inside the post.
Lafc (3-4-0) has lost consecutive matches and four of its last five.
Blake Gillingham had finished with two stops, including an acrobatic parade with a hand of a header played by Eddie Segura in the 80th minute, for Dynamo (1-4-2). The 22-year-old recruit made his debut at the MLS when he replaced the injured Jimmy Maurer in the 67th minute of 0-0 equality with the Sounders of Seattle on March 23 and made his first departure in career on March 30, a 3-1 defeat against the Timbers of Portland.
Houston finished with 59% possession, but was surpassed by Lafc, 12-11.
