Seeing a first -rate performance against Inter Miami, the Los Angeles Football Club midfielder Igor Jesus will not play on Saturday.
A suspension of a match for a pair of warnings and the red card following 53 minutes after the 3-2 defeat of Lafc in San Diego last weekend means that Jesus must sit for the first time since he joined the club when he takes over the calendar of the regular season of Major League Soccer at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston.
The 21 -year -old Brazilian, who started 10 and appeared in the 11 LAFC games so far, has not been credited with a goal or aid in 964 minutes through the MLS and the Concacaf Champions Cup Action, but he was hailed by coaches and teammates for a smart, mature and physical style that quickly made a key component in the middle of the park.
“There are certain behaviors that Aigor has the other players on our list playing this position,” said Lafc head coach Steve Cherundolo on Friday. “It plays very close to our central back and can sometimes slip into the bottom line and act as a third center in a deeper block, features that are specific to Igor and that we miss.”
Defender Marlon Santos said that he had experienced a growth in his Brazilian compatriots and expects Jesus’s ascending trajectory to continue. But with its absence after a difficult change alongside the Timothy Tillman and Mark Delgado field in their 1-0 victory on Wednesday, the door could open its doors to the fields of Odin Holm, Yaw Yeboah or Todd Saldana to contribute.
Among the midfielder group, Holm, a 22 -year -old Norwegian, believes that “we have a lot of different qualities”.
Lovenee until 2025 of Scottish Power Celtic, Holm played the last seven minutes against Miami after suffering for Tillman. It was the third appearance for Holm since its beginnings with the LAFC on March 22 after recovering from a broken ankle tendon during a pre-season match in Coachella.
Holm was “brilliant for us on the ball,” said Cherundolo. “He is a player who can play and get out of the pressure quite easily. It is natural. Technically, he is extremely competent.”
Obtaining the midfielder in the offensive spirit for more minutes so that he understands which pockets of the field float and go out to be effective with the ball for Lafc is the next step in its progress.
“I am here to gain confidence, experience and win trophies,” said Holm before the start of the season.
The date compared to the dynamo (0-4-2, 2 points) sets up a chance for Holm while he tries to take advantage of his time at the front of a return expected to Celtic.
Previous trips to Houston did not necessarily work well for Lafc (3-3-0, 9 points), but except unforeseen circumstances, the group, including Jesus, will go directly to the south of Florida.
Sandwich between the two legs of the round in the quarter -final of the Concacaf Champions Cup against Inter Miami (match 2 is scheduled for April 9 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale), the match on Saturday is in the middle of a five -day section for Lafc in 15 days – keeping a series of “strange” days in Houston, Cherundolo.
Last year, after having already transported Texas, a July 7 competition was canceled when Hurricane Beryl threatened Houston. The date of makeup occurred two months later while Lafc sent six players in international service at a FIFA window.
Houston separated from the Mexican star Hector Herrera at the end of last season. The veteran Nicolás Lodeiro and Jack McGlynn, 21, acquired in a business with Philadelphia, is a chief coach team of Dynamo, Ben Olsen, the 2025 team, who is struggling with a differential of goals minus seven years after half a dozen games.
