The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival launched its second weekend on Friday April 18, with a more relaxed and toned version last Friday last weekend, with some similarities and differences.
Lady Gaga delivered the same theatrical Campy but fantasy performance in the house of the Opera, with Gothic nuances of Art-Pop and passionate rescue dancers.
While the singer of “Bad Romance” presented her spectacular show, three journalists have traveled the field of the festival. Here are some of the other moments that attracted their attention.
Marina delivered a dazzling and nostalgic performance on the Coachella stage. It was the perfect act to catch for longtime fans and passers -by.
She delivered classic songs like “How To Be Heartbreaker” and “Primadonna”, with her undoubted and dramatic voices. She also teased her sixth studio album, “Princess of Power”, long scheduled after her 2021 album “Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land”.
Belinda Carlisle du Go-Go told fans during their weekend performance two of the songs they played were probably written before the birth of most of them. But even if it was true, it did not seem important to the crowd, which kissed the emblematic group while the entirely female group took them in the early 1980s with an energetic and nostalgic performance on Friday afternoon.
Carlisle and her colleagues founding member Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine and Jane Wiedlin interpreted a setlist full of their fun strokes starting the set with “vacation”, and following with tunes like “Our lips our sealed” “Head Over Heals”, and of course “we have had the pace”.
Saint Jhn, rapper Guyano-American, was released with an elaborate scene production which included a nesting red cross in the center of Mojave’s tent on which he went back and forth. His performance included rescue dancers and a Groovy bass player, who added a strata of excitement to the “Guyanese Moshpit” songs, “Best part of life” and “Circles”.
Lisa spoke of all the senses of the term “popstar”, with developed outfit changes, a tight choreography and a superb performance on stage. The Thai rapper and singer – notably known for his membership of the group of girls K -Pop Blackpink – brought an essential energy to the Sahara scene.
Yo Gabba Gabba was also spotted at Do Lab before their representation of the second day.
D4VD, the indie-alternative rocker, came out at the Gobi tent. After his opening song, “Take Me To The Sun”, he addressed the viral video of him after a Backflip attempt. He told the crowd he would try, but that he would need help from them to beat him to land him. After a few songs, he did it, successfully rearranging from last week’s blunder. He even thanked Benson Boone after winning the flip.
Speaking of this, the set of Benson Boone was above all the same, except instead that the guitarist of Queen Brian could go out for a blanket of the emblematic “Bohemian Rhapsody” of the group, “Boone sang the cover with a cardboard cutting by the guitarist.
One of the most important differences this weekend was at Maison Heineken, where rapper Cordae took the headliner of Pharcyde.
Before Cordae goes on stage, DJ Wattyjay warmed the crowd with mixtures of Black Eyed Peas, Charli XCX and Frank Ocean. About 15 minutes in the set, Cordae made a few sure, including “C Carter”, “Have Mercy” and “Kung Fu”. He also interpreted “Doomsday”, a collaboration with Juice WRLD and Lyrical Lemonade, and “RNP” with Anderson. Paak, but had Wattyjay Rap the parties of his employees.
