A suspect is in custody after allegedly shooting a Los Angeles police officer on Thursday morning.
The officer was on his way to work around 5 a.m. when the shooting occurred. Emergency services transported the officer to a local hospital to treat his injury, police told Fox News.
The officer was in a van at the time. The officer managed to get to the Newton Division station and call for help, FOX LA reported.

The officer was described as being in stable condition.
LAPD agents arrested a suspect a few blocks away.
Police could not confirm any information about the suspect, but local reports indicate the suspect may be as young as 14.
