Kylian Mbappe returns from broken nose in behind-closed-doors friendly to boost France’s Euro 2024 hopes

Kylian Mbappe looks set to return to Euro 2024 after reportedly scoring two goals in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

The 25-year-old suffered a broken nose during France’s 1-0 win over Austria on Monday night and had to be replaced as a result.

He returned to training and was spotted with a bandage on his nose, but did not feature in the Blues’ 0-0 draw with the Netherlands on Friday.

However, ESPN reported that he and his other teammates who did not start the match played in a friendly the next day.

Both teams included U21 players from German club Paderborn and both halves lasted 30 minutes.

Mbappe reportedly played on the left wing and scored two goals, as well as assisting two others as his side sealed victory.

He wore the black mask which will have to appear on his face for the rest of Euro 2024, with the new Real Madrid star being “a bit embarrassed” at first before adapting.

In addition, the youngsters from Paderborn were asked not to be “too aggressive” during duels and contacts.

It remains to be seen whether Mbappe will be available to start for France when they face Poland in their final Group D match on Tuesday, live on talkSPORT.

He assisted the winner against Austria when his cross was met by defender Max Wober, but has still never scored at the Euros.

France entered the tournament in Germany as one of the favorites to go all the way, but have been relatively unconvincing so far.

Veteran midfielder N’Golo Kante has been named player of the match in both of their clashes so far, with the former Chelsea man one of the most impressive players so far.

Even if it is not yet fully present at the races, France will be confident of beating an already eliminated Polish team.

Mbappe could certainly feature and bring his friendly form behind closed doors into the match to help the Blues progress to the last 16.
