And he said goodbye in the best possible way by helping Luis Enrique’s men beat Lyon 2-1 on Saturday evening at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

PSG went into the break 2-0 thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz.

But Republic of Ireland youth international Jake O’Brien created a nervy finish for the League One champions after scoring a brilliant header in the 55th minute.

Lyon failed to find the breakthrough, sparking jubilant celebrations from the PSG team, who added the Coupe de France to their league and Super Cup success this season.

And the players were quick to show their respect to French international Mbappe, who is set to join Real Madrid this summer.

It is understood the 2018 World Cup winner has verbally agreed to join Los Blancos, where he is expected to earn £13million a year in Spain.

After the full-time whistle, the PSG team hoisted Mbappé into the air to pay tribute to everything he has given to the club.

With a smile on his lips, Mbappé looked overwhelmed by this salutary moment, before finally getting his hands on the Coupe de France trophy for the fourth time.

Mbappe finished his PSG career as the club’s all-time top scorer with 256 goals.

He joined Les Parisiens on an initial loan deal from Monaco in 2017, with the deal subsequently made permanent for £166m.

Kylian Mbappé’s name was booed during the announcement of the teams before the superb tifo was deployed by Paris Saint-Germain fans.

Since 2018, Mbappé has scored at least 30 goals per season, with the 25-year-old posting his best numbers this season.

In 48 matches in all competitions, he has scored 44 goals and ten assists – perfect preparation for Euro 2024.
