“Putin does everything he can to delay and derail any progress towards peace because he has no interest in putting an end to war. This is why he continues to make these demands and wild proposals,” said Kovalenko on Telegram.
“The way of limiting your options is through stricter economic sanctions against Russia and strengthening Ukraine. I hope it will become clear in Easter if Russia has not stopped fighting by then,” he added.
The Ukrainian law does not authorize the elections under martial law, which was declared on February 24, 2022 when Russia launched its total war.
Dmytro Lytvyn, advisor to the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, recommended that the Russian chief become real.
“If Putin finds it difficult to understand with whom he has to get involved to move seriously towards the end of this war, he may simply have to burst pills to launch his brain activity – assuming that such pills still have an effect on him,” wrote Lytvyn in an article on X.
Putin’s comments occurred shortly after US President Donald Trump himself admitted that Russia “could drag his feet” on a full truce with Ukraine. Trump’s team has been trying to chop the terms of a ceasefire for weeks now, but Putin refuses to retreat on its maximalist ambitions for Ukraine.
