Kristen Wiig gets her ‘Saturday Night Live’ ‘5-timers club’ jacket – NBC Chicago

Kristen Wiig opened her “SNL” monologue so excited to receive her jacket for the fifth time she’s hosting the long-running sketch show, only to discover that “basically they hand them out to everyone like maxis free pads”.

Wiig, who was also a cast member of “Saturday Night Live” from 2005 to 2012, first took the Studio 8H stage and greeted the familiar performing group before another five-time host, Paul Rudd, stands up from the audience in his five-timers club jacket.

After congratulating Wiig, Rudd said, “You know what, I also heard a rumor that you might do one of these five sketches featuring great celebrity cameos,” Rudd said. “So, is there a script or something I can look at for this?”

Wiig was then greeted by a former “SNL” writer, who told her that the show was “basically handing them out to everyone like free maxi pads.”

An allegation Wiig denied, only to later call out and confront actor Matt Damon for wearing a club jacket five times, even though he only hosted the show twice.

“Yeah, but Lorne said the first time I hosted it was so good it counted as three. And the second time, not as good, but it counted as two, so by my calculations, That’s five baby,” Damon joked.

Wiig said Damon having a jacket didn’t seem “right” because she hosted five times and “deserved that.”

“Does this jacket no longer make sense?” Wiig then asked the series’ iconic showrunner, Lorne Michaels, who was on the side of the stage surrounded by several celebrities, including Jon Hamm and Martin Short, dressed in club jackets five times, even though they hadn’t actually welcomed five times.

The celebrities in the jackets justified their wearing because “together they had hosted the show five times”.

“Ahh, honey, so we’re doing a sketch five times,” Rudd then said, interjecting.

Eventually, Ryan Gosling steps in to save Wiig from his disappointment and gives him his quintuple club jacket.

And he’s done it while wearing a club jacket five times, even though he’ll host the show for just the third time on April 13.

Maya Rudolph talks about herself and her guest appearance with Kristen Wiig on “Saturday Night Live” and the second season of “Loot.”
