Koneru Humpy and Zhu Jiner jointly lead the failures of the Grand Prix 2024-25 (Pune) of Fide Women’s Grand Prix 2024 (Pune LEG) with 6 points each after the 8th and the penultimate round Tuesday.
Humpy survived a fear to hold Alina Kashlinskaya in a draw, while Jiner beat the Divya Deshmukh of India in a tactical battle. Despite the defeat, Divya remains in third place with 5 points.
Polina Shuvalova is fourth with 4.5 points.
Zhu Jiner beats Divya Deshmukh
The match between Harika Dronavalli and Melia Salome was the first of the tournament to cross 100 movements, finally ending with a draw. Vaishali Rameshbabu also attracted his match against Nurgyul Salimova.
During the final on Wednesday, Humpy will face Salimova, Divya will face Kashlinskaya and Jiner will be against Shuvalova.
Kashlinskaya, currently at the bottom of the ranking, had a bump on the strings but missed his luck with an error on movement 49.
