He is sure to say that Kody Clemens made his father proud on Saturday.
Kody, who is the son of the former long -standing launcher of MLB and long -standing, Roger Clemens, annoyed a Home Run for the Twins during the sixth round of the Saturday match against Boston in Fenway Park.
“It was incredible,” said Roger, standing in the box during a rainy delay with his wife – Kody’s mother, Debbie – and Kody’s wife, Jessica.
“Think of – I put myself in his place – even if he is my child, he is here in Fenway, and he obviously wants to perform well, hitting a home run would be the ultimate thing to do, and he goes up in a clutch situation and the fact. Just a good time and I’m happy that we are here.”
After Kody struck the Home Run, a fan put the ball back on the ground and a ball attendant threw him into the stands after having recovered it in the right field.
Roger, however, managed to get the ball.
“We got the ball,” said Roger after the Twins 4-3 victory.
He explained that a friend on his part took note of the place where the attendant launched the ball, then the friend was able to raise the fan and his family to Roger’s Box.
The seven time Cy Young Award said he had taken a photo with the fan and planned to send them things.
“It was so crazy,” said Debbie about what the three did, celebrating in the box. “It was just great to be here and for your first time to be able to play.”
Kody, 28, is currently in his fourth season in the MLB, and was previously with the Phillies before designating it for assignment in April.
The Twins bought the Kody’s contract on April 26 and have played five games with the club so far.
