LOS Angeles – The Kings have extended their defeat chain throughout the season against five games, sliding against the Blues of St. Louis for the second time in five days, 3-2, during a shooting Wednesday evening at Crypto.com Arena.
Quinton Byfield and Trevor Moore each scored a goal for Kings in regulation before Kevin Fiala converted during the shooting. Darcy Kuemper stopped 28 shots. The Kings are now sitting at three points behind Edmonton for second place in the Pacific and Trail division in the first place of Nine points.
Jake Neighbors opened the scoring and Robert Thomas added a power game goal for Saint-Louis. Jordan Binnington dotted several stunkers, including four in overtime, in his assortment of 21 speeds.
The neighbors added a goal in the shooting and Thomas scored the winner, creating a total symmetry for the blues in a victory that moved them to a point in the final berth of the West Conference.
The Kings did their best to have overtime, but it belonged to Binnington. They produced a pair of superb chances for Phillip Danault, including a breakaway, and another for Byfield, which was thwarted by a binnington that throws itself. Binnington would then deny Moore on a breakaway in the dying embers of the OT.
The third period, in particular its last six minutes, served as advertising for a 4 -nations style rating system where a victory in regulations represents three points, because the two teams seemed to play in overtime and at least one point each.
The Kings settled in the second period and were rewarded for their efforts with their first advance of the night, 14 seconds after the mid-go. However, they met in a matching match thanks to a goal from Blues Power Play 47 seconds before the second intermission.
After a play won, the former Duck Cam Fowler moved the washer for Pavel Buchnevich. He spotted Thomas in the inner part of the left circle, sending a pass which shot a Vladislav Gavrikov lying and right to Thomas for an equalizer.
The Kings had advanced an extended zone time which first saw a magnificent chance for Warren Foegele at the front thwarted by a sliding binnington. The Kings would recover the washer and score an unconventional goal. Mikey Anderson’s Rim-ASound pass struck the end boards and rushed towards the goal line, where Moore checked it and, back to Binnington, stuffed the puck through the post near its reverse. It was Moore’s 12th goal of the season, with half of these statements that arrived in his last 11 appearances.
Even for a team that has not spent the last two games to discuss “emergency” and “despair”, the Kings shot in the first period at low power, but which was aimed without the last 70 seconds.
Then the two parties exchanged goals, with striking and Byfield neighbors responding 32 seconds later.
The Kings escaped even thanks to their emerging combo by Byfield and Fiala. Byfield jumped a pass for Fiala, which returned to Byfield. He was curled up above the left game point and let fly with a shot under the transverse bar which was helped by three bodies, two blues and a king, in Binnington’s view line. Byfield has a dozen goals this season, while he and Fiala punctuated the team by scoring since December 15 with 22 points each.
St. Louis had opened the scoring when the long pass of Drew Doughty failed to connect with Alex Turcotte, allowing Colton Parayko to send neighbors in advance with speed. His smooth goalkeeper has set up an increasing setback that arose on the short side.
