King Named ‘Voice of the Steelers’ by Play-By-Play Magazine

iHeartMedia Pittsburgh today announced that Rob King, a member of the Steelers Audio Network pregame and postgame broadcast team since 2014, has been named the play-by-play voice of the team’s game audio broadcasts.

King has been a part of Pittsburgh’s sports media landscape for nearly 25 years and steps into the role following the retirement of Bill Hillgrove, who held the position for the past 30 seasons, earlier this year. He joins color analyst Craig Wolfley in the broadcast booth.

“We are thrilled to announce Rob King as the new Steelers play-by-play announcer beginning this season, following the retirement of longtime play-by-play announcer Bill Hillgrove earlier this year,” said Steelers President and CEO Art Rooney II. “Rob has done an excellent job during his 25-year career in the Pittsburgh market and is highly respected among his peers in the industry. We are excited for Steelers Nation to hear his unique perspective and enthusiasm for making our fans feel like they are in the stadium and watching the action on the field. He has a great responsibility to the legendary announcers who have come before him, but we are thrilled for Rob to take on his new role in bringing Steelers football to our fans around the world.”

“Rob King has been a key part of our Steelers broadcast team for over a decade,” said Tim McAleer, iHeartMedia Pittsburgh Market President. “We are thrilled to have him bring his passion for game day commentary into the booth and create an exciting radio show for our audience.”

Throughout his career, King has held several key positions in Pittsburgh’s professional and college markets. He will continue to be a key contributor on the Steelers Audio Network and the broader Steelers Media Network, which includes video and audio content published across various team content platforms.

“The Steelers hold a special place in this community and across the country,” King said. “I am grateful to Art Rooney II, the Steelers and iHeartMedia for giving me this incredible opportunity to be an integral part of one of the greatest organizations in professional sports. I can’t wait to get started, do my job well and bring the excitement of the games to people around the world. I couldn’t be more excited.”
