King Charles III returns to public duties after cancer diagnosis

King Charles III has reached an important milestone in his health journey.

Buckingham Palace announced on April 26 that the royal monarch would return to public duties “following a period of treatment and recovery” following his recent cancer diagnosis.

Charles and Queen Camille will make a joint visit to a cancer treatment center on April 30, where they will meet specialist doctors and patients, according to the palace, which also noted that this outing “will be the first in a series of external engagements that Sa Majesty will undertake this in the coming weeks.”

The couple also plans to host the emperor And Empress of Japan for a state visit in June.

Additionally, as the first anniversary of Charles’ coronation approaches, the statement highlights that the royal family “remains deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and good wishes they have received from around the world throughout the joys and challenges of the last year”.

A palace spokesperson also provided an update on the 75-year-old’s health, saying Her Majesty is “strongly encouraged to return to certain public functions and very grateful to her medical team for their care and continuing expertise”.
