Killer mom fired bullets into her wedding dress, left distorted message for ex, then asked son to watch cartoons in ditch as she shot him dead before killing herself

A mother taunted her ex-husband and made her young son “say goodbye to dad” on camera before shooting him in the head.

Savannah Kriger, 32, and her son Kaiden, 3, were reported missing Monday after she left work early to pick him up from daycare for a doctor’s appointment.

They were found dead early Tuesday morning, 19 hours later, in a drainage ditch at Tom Slick Park in San Antonio, Texas, with gunshot wounds.

Kriger was scheduled to face her ex-husband Brian Kriger at a custody hearing the same day.

Investigators pieced together Kriger’s final hours alive as she ransacked two homes in a gun rampage, took her son and gloated to Brian on the phone that she would never see him again.

Kriger left work at 12:49 p.m. in his white 2023 Lincoln Aviator and drove to Brian’s house 7.9 miles away. while he was at work. and I destroyed it.

At 1:14 p.m., she drove 27.2 miles home, where she cut holes in her wedding dress and two wedding portraits that she displayed on her bed.

Her next stop was Kaiden’s daycare, where she arrived at 2:32 p.m. and examined him, which took her 10 minutes.

Four minutes later, she left Brian an alarming two-minute, 13-second message on FaceTime while he was still at work.

“You don’t have anything to go home with now, you really don’t.” You have nothing at Dover’s Den house either, and you will have nothing at all at the end of the day,” she said.

As Brian rushed home and called 911 to report a criminal mischief complaint at his home only to find it destroyed, Kriger was making his final drive.

At 3:19 p.m., while Brian was taking photos of the damage she had caused to his house, Kriger tried to call him again but he did not answer.

She sent him one last text: “Say goodbye to your son. »

However, family members became concerned when they were unable to get in touch with Kriger.

Two minutes later, she tried to talk to him again on FaceTime, without success, and instead recorded a 21-second video of her and her final moments with Kaiden.

“She and Kaiden appear to already be sitting in the drainage ditch where their bodies would eventually be found. Savannah asks Kaiden to say goodbye to Dad,” Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

After Kaiden said goodbye to Brian on camera, not knowing it would be the last time, Kriger hugged him and apologized that his father wasn’t there with him.

The last activity on Kriger’s phone was searching for children’s cartoons at 3:29 p.m.

Nothing graphic was recorded on the phone, but detectives believed the video showed the couple’s last moments alive.

As the hours passed, the family became increasingly concerned when they could not contact Kriger. All calls to voicemail and location services on his phone have been disabled.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office was called to his home for a welfare check around 6 p.m., but was unable to enter the home.

The police eventually made contact with a family member who let them inside.

“There, they found evidence that created “reason to be concerned for the child as well as Savannah,” according to Salazar.

An Amber Alert was issued the same day. Police suspected Kriger, who was involved in an ongoing custody dispute with the child’s father, of kidnapping him.

Authorities traced Kriger’s car to Tom Slick Park near State Highway 151 East following phone pings.

Searches in the park began Monday evening but had to be suspended at nightfall.

Tuesday morning, police continued to comb the area and found two bodies near a drainage easement. A firearm was also recovered at the scene.

Salazar said Kriger and Kaiden appeared to have left the SUV and walked a “considerable path” from the park to the ditch where the bodies were located.

An Amber Alert was issued for three-year-old Kaiden a day before the bodies were discovered.  In this alert, Kriger was named as his alleged kidnapper.
