Kid Rock Issues Intense 8-Word Warning After Donald Trump Shooting

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Trump supporter Kid Rock has posted an intense and profanity-filled message following the assassination attempt on the former president.

“You’re kidding Trump, you’re kidding me,” the 53-year-old rocker shouted in a selfie video posted to Instagram, pointing at the camera. Kid Rock, who shared the video on Saturday (July 13) — hours after Trump was shot in the ear at a rally in Pennsylvania — wore a “White Boy of the Year” baseball cap while shirtless in the video.

His message received support from fellow country artists like Randy Houser (“Motherf***ing right,” Houser commented) as well as Donald Trump Jr., who responded to the “All Summer Long” artist’s rallying cry with three American flag emojis.

In a poignant moment that instantly went viral, Trump survived an assassination attempt earlier Saturday while speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was shot in the ear and his face was covered in blood. The shooter was killed. One rallygoer died, while two others were seriously injured, according to AP News.

Kid Rock has long been a vocal Trump supporter, which has often earned him plenty of backlash. (Trump, for his part, has returned the favor by introducing the rapper at one of his tour stops and appearing alongside him at a UFC fight in 2023.)

The “Picture” singer has been embroiled in his fair share of controversy over the years. In 2023, he was criticized for shooting cans of Bud Light after the brand featured trans personality Dylan Mulvaney in an ad.

“F*** Bud Light, and f*** Anheuser-Busch,” Kid Rock said in the controversial video, which he shared on social media at the time.

In an in-depth profile in Rolling stone Published in May, the journalist alleged that Kid Rock pulled out a gun during their discussion at the rocker’s home.

“I’ve got a fucking gun here if I need it,” he reportedly said. “I’ve got them everywhere!”
