Mendez continued by saying that Khabib Nurmagomedov had the same state of mind during his career where he wanted to show people how his shot had improved.
“ The Eagle ” did exactly that, but he always relied in large part on his grappling skills to keep the title light without ever taste the defeat.

Javier Mendez admitted this when he thought about the main event of the UFC 315, offering Della Maddalena the credit for a victory that will bring his career to new heights.
“At the same time too, perhaps Jack did not allow him these opportunities. But, Jack did an excellent job. He mixes his punches and his kicks very well, keeps his distance very well, has remained in the middle most of the time. He is all around a very good fighter.”
