Kevin Spacey gave a long and fiery speech at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday evening, marking his first visit to the World Rally in almost a decade and since his recognition of accusations of sexual assault.
Spacey was expressed in a gala organized by the Better World Fund, where he received a life for life. The actor became emotional when he compares his own ouster from the film industry to the black list of the scriptwriter Dalton Trumbo. He closed by quoting a quote from his “friend” Elton John: “I’m still standing”
Spacey was the star guest of the event and was congratulated on stage by the president of the World Fund, Manuel Collas de la Roche, who declared that the actor embodied the “powerful interaction between art and influence”.
Spacey praised the event for taking “risks” by inviting him. “Who would never have thought that honoring someone who has been exempt in each courtroom in which he entered would be considered a courageous idea.”
He also compared the decision of the Better World Fund to invite him to support Kirk Douglas to the writer on black list Trumbo.
“Kirk Douglas took the risk and would say later, it is easy for us the actors to play the hero on the screen, we can fight the bad guys and defend justice, but in real life, the choices are not always so clear.”
The event also presented an auction with articles such as a humidifier Cigar creator, a guitar signed by Kevin Costner and another guitar signed by Sting (the latter cost $ 28,000). At one point, Spacey was inaugurated on the stage to urge the public to be careful during the auction.

The actor’s visit to Cannes was orchestrated by producers of the plot thriller “The Awakening”, in which Spacey Stars.
